“As I don't see as much of Harry as I used to because obviously we were at school together, he's grown very much into his own man."
“The only arguments we ever have is when I disagree completely with what he’s doing or he disagrees completely with what I'm doing. In that sense we get on very well."
"We’re very close Harry and I."
Harry:
"Maybe he'll be jealous!"- After looking at his official 18th birthday pictures
How they're alike
"Well, there's very little age gap between us," William said, when an interviewer suggested that Harry would be helpful to him when it came to understanding his unique position in life. This, William said, meant that their life experiences were "very similiar." So, naturally, the boys have a lot in common. Here are some of the major similarities:
Harry followed in William's educational footsteps until he graduated from England. Harry's moves mirrored William's except that Harry had to stay back an extra year at Ludgrove School.
Both boys have a very strong interest in art.
They share a passion for horses and polo, both riding since they were very young.
They love skiing and being out in the countryside doing such things as hunting.
They are very close to their father.
They have admitted they very much enjoy going out with friends into the towns and sitting around drinking, chatting, and generally having a good time.
At Eton, according to their housemaster Dr Andrew Gaily, "They both put a lot into it and got a lot out of it."
They were acomplished in the school's cadet force, William winning the highly coveted Sword of Honour for the best first-year cadet, and Harry leading the annual tatoo parade.
Each one says that he does not particulary like "being in the spotlight" or "being the centre of attention."
Both expressed a desire to play polo in other countries during their gaps years. However, only Harry got to fulfill this wish.
How they're different
“As I don't see as much of Harry as I used to because obviously we were at school together, he's grown very much into his own man."
Harry is more physically demonstrative. A reporter who accompained Harry through Lesotho said, "When he sees his friends, he throws his arms round them." When the boys made their second public apperance after Diana's death, inspecting tributes outside the palace gates, at one point Harry, becoming very emotional while reading a tribute, instinctively reached his hand up, and Charles took it.
Although both boys are vey protective of their mother's memory, Harry speaks publicly about it much more quickly than does his brother.
William is much more academic than his brother. Although his grades slipped at times as he struggled with his parents' issues, followed by thier divorce and a year later his mother's death, William graduated with very respectable A-level results from Eton. Harry had to repeat a year at his pre-prepatory school after failing almost all of his classes, and dropped an A-level because he feared he would fail two if he tried to take three. Even with only two, he barely passed one and achieved no A's.
Harry is less mature than his brother. He admits he has "an incredibly immature side."
Harry is less reserved in public than his brother is. William is rarely photographed drunk and, if he believes he is at risk of being photgraphed, behaves himself relavetively well. By the time he was sixteen, Harry had been photographed both drunk and high in public, and more often than William is photographed passionately kissing different girls.
