The Lower Boy, when he enters Eton College, is usually no older than 13 year old. He enters the "F" block, which is the first year. He moves onto the "E", "D", "C" and finally "B" block, then he continues his education at a university, although many take a year off for their "gap year".
The first year is comparable to the junior high school in the U.S.
Timetable depends on the half. The Autumn starts at 7:30 am for "1st School", then 8:15 am for breakfast, 9:20 am Chapel, 9:40 am 2nd School, 10:30 am Break, 10:55 am 3rd, 11:55 am 4th, 1 pm Dinner, 3:30 pm 5th, 4:15 am Tea, 5 pm 6th, 6 pm Study period, 7:45 pm Supper, 8:20 pm House Prayers, 8:30 pm Study period, 10 pm Light out.
The 5th and 6th School are on the whole school days only.
In Winter, Spring and Summer, the hours are slightly modified, i.e. Tea time for the Summer is at 4:45 pm or 5:30 pm, depending on if it is a whole school day only.
Which schools dance with the boys from Eton College? It varies. There are not that many local girls public schools which have joint dances with Eton, except St. Georges Ascot, Tudor Hall, and Wycombe Abbey.
